About

Who we are, and how we earn trust

UKVATTracker is a focused information tool for one moment: when a UK sole trader, freelancer or small business is approaching the £90,000 VAT threshold and has to decide what to do.

Why this exists

Most “VAT calculators” only add or remove 20%. None of them helps you answer the question that actually matters when you are growing: do I have to register, and when? That answer depends on a rolling 12-month test most people have never had explained. We built the tool we wished existed — calm, accurate, HMRC-cited, and private.

Our principles

  • Primary sources only. Every figure traces to HMRC, gov.uk or legislation.gov.uk — see sources.
  • Privacy by design. Your turnover figures never leave your browser. We cannot see them.
  • No fabrication. We never invent a statistic, a reviewer or a figure we cannot cite.
  • Freshness on the page. Every claim carries a last-verified date — see policy state.

Independent review

Our content is being reviewed by an independent UK-credentialled accountant or tax adviser (ICAEW / ACCA / CIOT / ATT preferred for VAT). Until that engagement is signed and the reviewer’s name and membership number can be displayed here, the site shows an “independent review pending” status. We will not name a reviewer we do not have.

Who runs it

The site is operated by the independent UK publisher behind UKVATTracker (UK company registration in progress). We are an information publisher, not a firm of chartered accountants. Contact: [email protected].

How we’re funded

The tools are free. We may earn a referral fee if you choose to sign up to an accounting service through us — always with the HMRC-direct route shown alongside, and full disclosure on every link. We may also show advertising. Neither ever changes the figures or the advice; only HMRC determines your VAT obligations.
